Alan Godden Takes Early Retirement

19th July 2019

Alan Godden started working with Brian Wilson at MPM in 1978 at the tender age of 18 – as apprentice pattern maker.

By 1989, the company had diversified into the Conservatory market and set up a new division called Mecanex. Alan was instrumental in the design and development of this company and its products and became a valued shareholder.

Not many people these days can boast a specialist apprenticeship in pattern making, but Alan’s technical expertise gained through this journey, has been invaluable in adding value to even the most complex projects, and he will be sadly missed.

"We would like to thank Alan for all his dedication throughout the years at MPM.  He became not just a worker, not just a Director, but a true friend.  Alan was a joy to employ for those thirty years with us at the helm. Thank you."
Brian and Susan Wilson

Loyalty to MPM runs through Alan like a stick of rock and his dedication and commitment to ensuring that MPM kept going through even the most difficult times has been very much appreciated.

“I am both excited and somewhat sad to be saying goodbye to MPM, where I have worked for over 41 years hopefully, adding value with my technical knowledge.  Kaylie, who has been working alongside me for seven years, will be taking over the reins and I have every confidence in her abilities. I’m sure she will rise to the challenge. After a very testing time the last 12 months, the whole team has pulled together with commitment and positivity and, the company is growing and going from strength to strength. I will be keeping in touch and I wish the team all the very best now and, for the future, within the business and their personal lives".

Alan will leave at the end of August, however MPM are keeping him on a consultancy contract for the next 6 months which is open to extension if necessary.

“I will miss working with Alan and wish him all the best in retirement.  I will always be grateful for the loyalty and support he gave to my parents and the foundations put down at MPM”.

Innovate - Quality - Reliable - Team - Leaders

"I am also a very particular individual that requires a level of service and quality often difficult to achieve. The guys at MPM are ‘stand up’ guys, always making things work, juggling resources where necessary to help me keep my business flowing."
